We are happy that you are visiting the East End Men's Soccer League. We are a 7 on a side soccer league located in East Hampton, on the south fork on the east end of Long Island. We see ourselves as the most competitive soccer league on the east end. You will find many players also play in other Sunday leagues. It's a great league to stay fit during the week.
All east end soccer was started by Paul Sapienza in the hamptons during the late 1970's. Paul had an independent 11 man team that he scheduled invitational games with teams from all over the tri-state area. These contacts came from the Peconic Soccer League which Paul also founded. Later Paul's entered the Long Island Soccer Football League and after that Paul started the Peconic Senior Soccer League with 8 teams.
Paul Sapienza got the idea of a East End Night Soccer league from his knowledge of the indoor soccer in Kansas City. Paul built the goals, created the rules ,secured the permits, scheduled referees, and dealt with the Athletic Director of East Hampton High School who was trying to stop soccer from coming to the beautiful east end. Besides the East End Men's Soccer league which is the oldest on the east end, there are many indoor and outdoor soccer leagues during the entire year which keep to themselves.
So in the fall of 1984 the league came into existence with five teams: Amagansett, Costa Rica, Bayberry(East Hampton), Montauk, and Springs. The league was struggling during the spring 1985 season, with only four teams. Finally for the fall 1985 season did the Wednesday night soccer league expand to six teams. Since the fall of 1985, the league has been six teams strong. Our league has no age limits. We have players who are high school students, college students, semi-professional and professional players from Central and South America. Our oldest players are in their 50's and some have been playing for more than 32 years.
Many of our current players play with Hampton FC in the Long Island Soccer Football League, the top amatuer league on Long Island. The team is one of the top rated. While the older players play with Hampton United FC in the Suffolk Men's Soccer League, an over 30 league. So soccer on the east end of southern Long Island is strong. From what we hear, The East End Men's Soccer League is one of the cleanest around.
We play hard but also know that we have to go to work the next day!
