Tuxpan Wins

During the second half of play, FC Tuxpan was playing better which gave them more opportunities to score. Juan Salmeton found himself on a one on one with John Cobrera of Bateman Painting. Salmeton shot low to the right side to give his team the lead.

With FC Tuxpan attacking, it did not take long for them to score again. This time a shot is taken on the Bateman goal but no one was able to clear the ball as it was rolling around the goal line. Standing there was Ivan Espinoza who tapped the ball into the net.

Playing for First Place

The winner would take first place with both sides playing hard and fast on the field. Maidstone had a great defensive game by preventing Hampton FC from taking any on goal shots. So about 15 minutes into the half, Maidstone scored. A direct kick is given to Maidstone with Diego Marles taking it. Marles fires the ball toward the Hampton FC goal with defender Leonardo Garcia jumping to head the ball but the ball goes by his head and his keeper Alejandro Bolanos punches the ball into the back of Garcia's leg. The ball deflects off Garcia's leg and starts rolling toward the goal. Bolanos turns around to try to grab it but Luis Correa of Maidstone is there to kick the ball as it is rolling near the goal line into the net to give his team the lead. Even if Correa did not kick the ball, it looked like the ball would have rolled into the goal all by itself.

It did not take Hampton FC long to tie up the match. Jose Almonsa had the ball on the right side near the end line. Almonsa seeing that Oscar Reinoso is on the opposite side of the goal unmarked fires it in that direction. The ball goes across the goal mouth to Reinoso and Reinoso fires the ball into the open net from about 3 yards out.

The match tied again but Maidstone was able to take the lead for good about 20 minutes into the match. This time Mario Olaya had the ball inside his half just near the half field line. Olaya fires a blopper toward Carlos Torres who is on the left side near the goalie box. Torres deflects the ball with his foot toward Luis Correa who is about 10 yards out. Correa hits a grounder past the on coming Bolanos into the net for his second goal of the night.

Hard Play but Maidstone in First Place

During the second half of play, both sides were playing hard with men going down on the ground but no one was able to score so that Maidstone is now in first place.

Plenty of Near Goal Action

This was a very good match with both sides attacking well with plenty of action in front of each goal. The only question was, who would score first? Well, Tortorella Pools scored first when a ball was passed to David Rodriguez with Olger Araya of The Hideaway coming out to block the shot. Rodriguez lost the ball but Araya could not grab it but watched it roll around near the goal post. Rodriguez fought off The Hideaway defenders and was able to hit the loose ball into the net to give his team the lead.

The Hideaway Had Plenty of Chances to Score

During the second half of play, Tortorella was playing very well with many opportunities near The Hideaway goal. So on one attack Danny Salazar of Tortorella had the ball about 20 yards out and fires a blast into the net to give his team a two goal lead.

The Hideaway was playing well but some of the players on the side line were complaining that the shots missed by their team, should have been goals if another team had the same opportunity. Well The Hideaway is able to score when Cesar Correa fires a loose ball from about 10 yards out into the net.

The Hideaway had a great chance to tie up the match when Correa passed the ball to Marco Bautista who was unmarked about 6 yards from the Tortorella goal. As Bautista is firing the ball, Tortorella keeper Craig Caiazza comes out to block the shot with his foot. It seemed to have worked since the ball went over the cross bar. From Bautista's point of view, it was better for it to be a deflection rather then a missed goal.
