It was a cold night to play the championship match. Temperature at game time was 41 Fahrenheit but little wind. The field was hard as a rock due to the cold temperature the previous couple of days. We had a total of about 20 fans supporting the teams. The teams were evenly matched and had about the same number of on goal shots but Maidstone Market won due to the fact that theirshots went in while Tortorella's were stopped. For Maidstone, this is their tenth championship in the past 13 seasons. For Tortorella, they have been in the championship match seven times but have not won once. They have played Maidstone Market in the championship match five times and have lost all five. This was great win for Maidstone Market.

Well the fall season has concluded which was very exciting to the end. Everyone have a good time off and we will see you in April when the spring 2014 season will begin. Check back for any news and we will post some videos of past play.

Remember, Be the first to score and you have a 73% chance of winning it!

Maidstone Scores on a Throw-In

The weather was overcast and in the low 40's. We had about 20+ spectators. The field was hard as a rock due to the cold windy days that proceeded this match. The two teams have meet a total of five times in the championship match with Maidstone Market winning all five.

From the first kick off, both sides were attacking well but the defense on both sides would prevent any on goal shots. Maidstone had a totol of seven on goal shots with four going in and Tortorella had just five with one going in. Both sides could have scored early when David Rodriguez of Tortorella had a one on one with Cory DeRosa of Maidstone but the shot was blocked. At the other end, Deigo Marles fired the ball to Luis Correa who shot just wide of the near post. Maidstone was able to score about 10 minutes into the match when Gerber Garcia inside the Tortorella half, threw the ball into the Tortorella goalie box. The ball went over the Tortorella defenders and as the ball was about to bounce off the ground, Gehider Garcia, standing behind the Tortorella defenders, tried to kick it as the ball was still in the air. Craig Caiazza, the Tortorella keeper came out to block the shot but Gehider missed the ball as it continued toward the ground. The ball bounced off the ground and headed toward the Tortorella goal. In the mean time, Caiazza fell toward the ground and just watched the ball go over his head into the goal. Once the ball crossed the goal line, Gehider was able to hit it into the net. The question is, did Gehider ever touch the ball and when he did, did it cross the goal line already. If no one touched it after the throw in, it would not be a goal. Watch the video and decide.

2013.11.25 Championship

The second goal for Maidstone was a nice one. This time a direct kick is given to Maidstone at the 15 yard line. Diego Marles would take the kick. Marles fires the ball toward the Tortorella wall. As the ball is flying, two of Tortorella defenders move their heads to protect themselves. The ball flies between their heads into the top near corner of the net.

Maidstone Puts it Away

During the second half of play Tortorella came out strong and were attacking well but the attack would break apart inside the Maidstone goalie box. Tortorella had too many passes to nobody. It was looking as if they could not score again. Maidstone was able to score their third goal when Antonio Padilla had the ball and from about 20 yards blasted the ball to the far side net. Caiazza reaches for the ball but the ball goes throw his hands into the back of the far upper corner net to give Maistone a three goal advantage.

Maidstone kept on attacking with Mario Olaya taking a shot that Caiazza saved by deflecting the ball to the side. Standing there from about 5 yards was Gehider Garcia. Garcia blasted the ball into the net.

As it appeared that Maidstone would get another shotout, Tortorella was able to score. With minutes left, Daniel Bedoya fired the ball toward the Maidstone goal. DeRosa saved the goal but just could not hold on to the ball. The ball went to the other side of the goal and was kicked in by Cristian Munuz of Tortorella from about 3 yards out.

With with win, Maidstone has won the championship ten of the last 13 seasons.
