It was a cold night to play the semi-final matches. Temperature at game time was 27 Fahrenheit. Cold hands and feet if you do not move around. My camera LCD screen stopped working due to the low temperature! It was cold! The weather for the championship match should be similar, COLD!

Both matches were well played with the winning teams taking the lead and having their opponents evening things up but in the end, the two Maidstone and Tortorella were able to pull away and win.

The two teams in the championship match, Maidstone Market and Tortorella Pools have the same record and undefeated but they also tied both times that they have played. This is the first time this has happened. Both teams have met in the championship match five times with Maidstone winning all five of them.

Our two top scores, Luis Correa of Maidstone and David Rodriguez of Tortorella both have a total of 17 goals each so far. Not only do they have the same number of goals but wear the same number #9 on their team jersey. match will decide the best scorer of the season since both will be playing against a first class team not one that was short players or at the bottom of the standings. As it looks now, this should be a great match.

It will be Maidstone Market vs. Tortorella Pools so be there but dress warm since most of the hot action will be on the field!

Maidstone in Control

For the match, Hampton FC was missing Jose Almonsa and Oscar Reinoso due to red cards. If they played, the outcome could have been different since both players are fine attackers. Maidstone was the stronger team with better attacking drives. Hampton FC would attack but just could not fire many on goal shots. Maidstone was able to score first when Diego Marles had the ball and fired it to Antonio Padilla. Padilla from about 10 yards fired the ball into the top right corner of the net.

Play continued until about three minutes before the half would end. Marciel Correa of Hampton FC scored to tie up the match after taking a low shot from inside the box.

Maidstone Wins

During the half tme break, Hampton FC as very confident to be tied with Maidstone but on the Maidstone side, it was all quite. Maidstone had a feeling that they should be leading the match.

During the second half, Maidstone kept on attacking with Alejandro Bolanos doing some diving to save the day. Bolanos was able to prevent a several goals but how long could he keep it up? Maidstone was able to score when Diego Marles took the direct kick. Marles shot the ball directly toward the goal about chest high. As the ball approached the goal, the ball passed by everyone but Luis Correa. Correa touched the ball to redirect it past Bolanos to score. After that goal, Hampton FC tried but could not score.

Tortorella in Control

From the start, Tortorella was in control in moving the ball around The Hideaway half. Passing was well done but missed plays in front of the goal prevented a good shot taken. Play continued with Stiven Orrego coming up the field and dribbling down toward The Hideaway end line. Orrego fires the ball infront of the goal with David Rodriguez of Tortorella and Olger Araya of The Hideaway going for it. As the ball goes by , Rodriguez back heels the ball into the net behind Araya to give his team the lead.

Tortorella Holds On

During the second half of play, Tortorella was not playing as strong as in the first half. Tortorella looked tied since the match consisted of two halves each 30 minutes long. The Hideaway was getting good chances in front of the Tortorella goal with some near misses. Tortorella was able to score again when Rodriguez was near The Hideaway end line and from about 15 yards fired the ball into the net past the hands of Araya. An unbelievable shot.

The Hideaway was able to score when Romulo Tubatan standing next to the Tortorella goalie fired the ball into the net.

The next goal by Rodriguez was also unbelievable. Alex George of Tortorella fired the ball to Rodriguez who was standing near the end line. Rodriguez again fired the ball near the end line past The Hideaway keeper from about 10 yards out.

The Hideaway was able to score on a direct kick from about 20 yards out. Ismael Penafiel of The Hideaway would take the kick. The kick taken went past the wall on the near side. As the ball approached the near post head high, Rodriguez jumped up to try to head the ball out of danger but instead headed the ball into the net. An own goal for Rodriguez. After that goal, play continued with some hard tackles and in the end, Tortorella was able to hold on a win.
