A league meeting was held on September 4th. The following were at the meeting: Bateman, FC-Tuxpan, Tortorella, referee. No major changes but everyone was happy how the league was being run.

The following rule changes were made for the new season.

  1. Now you will be able to make a substitution without asking the referee first. Players can enter and leave the field anytime during the match as long as the new player enters the field at the half field line and waits until the player they are replacing leaves the field first. If this procedure is not followed, a yellow card will be given to the incoming player and your team will play a man down.
  2. Have fun, play hard but play clean since we all work for a living and can not afford to get injured!

This was the first week of play and it went well. The only problem we had was that the Herrick Park field was full of lines. Lines for the rugby field and school field. Our field could not use any of the lines present since it was on a diagonal. The season started late due to the fact that the field was mowed just before the first kick off. No one had any problems with the new field layout.

Just to make it clear. You need to play just three games to to eligible to play in the playoffs. Those three games do not need to be played at the start of the season as some people believed. Again, you just have to play three games out of ten to be eligible to play in the playoffs.

You can switch teams during the first three weeks of play but only play once per week. After the third week of play, roster is closed and no additions can be made to a team.

The players did not understand that we can make substitution as the game is being played like in hockey. We will see how the new substitution rules work out.

Remember, Be the first to score and you have a 73% chance of winning it!

A beautiful night to play the first match since it started late due to the mowing running late. Both sides were attacking with Tortorella missing several of there main players. Maidstone had the better shots on goal.

Many Near Misses for Maidstone

During the second half, Maidstone came out strong and had many chances in front of the Tortorella goal but miss kicked or Tortorella keeper Craig Caiazza made the saves. Tortorella on the other end just took some over the goal shots.

FC Tuxpan Takes Early Lead

For FC Tuxpan, half their team was new and they were playing the spring 2013 champs Hampton FC. Antonio Chavez and Duvan Castro started in the net until they were replaced by Enrique Pichardo and Alejandro Bolanos. Play was hard at both ends but FC Tuxpan was able to score first. Juan Salmeton was on a fast break when Bolanos came out to cut his angle off but from about 17 yards, Salmeton shot past Bolanos into the open net to give FC Tuxpan the lead.

Hampton FC Comes Back to Win

During the second half of play, both sides were attacking well but Hampton FC tied the match when Cristian Pena scored from inside the goalie box.

From that point on, it was all Hampton FC. It did not take long for Hampton FC to score again. This time, Oscar Reinoso hits the ball to Jose Almonsa. Almonsa from inside the goalie box scores.

Things were moving well for Hampton FC. So minutes later, Reinoso scores from inside the box off a pass from Almonsa. A great win for Hampton FC.
