This was a great night to play the two semi-final matches. The temperature was in the high 40's with no wind. Who would win, that was the question and the first match between Maidstone Market and Tuxpan had to be decided on penalty kicks. Thepenalty kick round had at least 50 spectators standing around the penalty circle. In the end, Maidstone won.
In the second match, Bateman vs. Tortorella, Bateman was playing a man down since Carlos Torres in the previous match injured himself and was unable to play.
Now we have our two teams in the championship match. It will be Maidstone vs. Tortorella and during the season, Tortorella wonby a score of 3-0 and in the next meeting, Maidstone won by a score of 1-0. The last time the teams met in the championship match was on November 30th, 2009 with Maidstone winning by a score of 3-1. It should be a good match!
Remember, Be the first to score and you have a 73% chance of winning it!

Goals:
Maidstone Market :
Diego Marles,
Tuxpan :
Juan Velazquez,
Both sides were ready but Maidstone was missing several of their offenders for this match. During the first half, Maidstone was controlling the match but were not able to score. They had the shots but Tuxpan was able to block them. As for Tuxpan, all they had was a counter attack but it would fall apart before a shot could be taken. The longer the match remained a tie, the better the chance that Tuxpan could win.
During the second half of play, it was all Maidstone. They had the shots but they just did not go in. Early in the half , Maidstone was given a direct kick at the top of the goalie box, 15 yards out. Diego Marles blasts the ball over the wall and just under the cross bar to give Maidstone the lead.
It was looking grim for Tuxpan but they came out strong and started to attack. It was looking as if they could score and on one play they did. Plenty of action in front of the Maidstone goal with Estuardo Larios taking a blast at the Maidstone goal. Alex Mesa blocked the shot but could not hold on but standing there was Juan Velzaquez who blasted the ball into the net to tie up the match.
With 10 minutes of overtime played, both sides could not score and the match went to penalty kick round. At least 50 spectators stayed to watch with Maidstone winning the penalty kick round by a score of 3-1.
Alex Mesa was Maidstone goalie and Antonio Chavez was the goalie for Tuxpan. Just a fact, in a regular season match, the chance of making a penalty kick is about 65% but in playoffs, it drops down to about 52%.

Bateman Painting :
Tortorella Pools :
Andres Arango, Gary Easlick(3), Luis Vas,
Bateman from the start was short a man and it cost them in their play. Tortorella came out strong and would control the half. Many shots were taken but few found the net. Gary Easlick almost scored with a shot but Luis Bermeo diving save prevent the ball from hitting the net. The longer the game went without a goal, it was looking as if Bateman had a chance to win.
Tortorella was able to score when Rodolfo Marin near the side line headed the ball to Luis Vas who was standing by the near post. Vas hit the ball into the net to give Tortorella the lead. Vas could have scored again on a header but headed the ball into the hands of Bermeo.
During the second half of play, it was all Tortorella. Once Tortorella scored the second goal, Bateman just fell apart.
The second goal for Tortorella was scored when Vas had the ball and centered the ball into the goalie box to Easlick. Easlick standing about 2 yards from the goal, redirected the ball into the net.
Minutes later, Easlick standing in the same place received the ball from Vas again and was able to score.
Easlick scores again as he is standing next to the goal, 2 yards out, and received a pass from Steven Orrego. Easlick had a easy time scoring. At this point, Bateman had no chance and just wished the match would finish.
The last goal of the night was scored by Andres Arango who ran up the field and headed the ball into the net from a pass by Easlick who was near the Bateman end line. A great win for Tortorella.
