Par East was coming into the championship game undefeated but our fans in the poll were predicting J.Villaplana to win the game by a 2 to 1 margin. The weather was colder then expected with a north east wind blowing. We all know that Fabian of J.Villaplana and Donald of Par East are friends but Fabian wanted to win this game to avenge the loss to Donald in the fall 1999 season championship. The fall 2003 championship was delayed due to the snow in December of 2003 which prevented play until this spring.

   The game started off very fast but Par East had a better attack. Both teams were attacking hard and would not let easy plays to occur. The first chance to score was for J.Villaplana when Daniel Munoz crossed a ball to the far side to Walter Arias. Walter shot the ball in mid air into the hands of Mario Hurtado the Par East goalie. This shot must have run shivers up the back of Par East since it could have gone in. During the game, Par East had the better ball passing with their forwards. Luis, Herman and Reynaldo were playing very well together. J.Villaplana could not produce a similar forward configuration that was just as effective. So on one play, Luis dribbles the ball into the J.Villaplana goalie box and then passes it off to Herman. Once Herman has control of the ball, he takes a blast but Alfredo was able to block the shot. Then several minutes later in another attack by Par East, Herman dribbles down the side and quickly passes the ball to Luis who is within the J.Villaplana goalie box. Luis sees that Reynaldo is open to the far side and near the goal post. Luis passes the ball to Reynaldo but Reynaldo volleys a sure goal over the cross bar. The half would end in a 0-0 tie but the advantage would go to Par East.

   The second half started as the first ended, hard and fast. This time, J.Villaplana can out attacking and about 5 minutes into the half, they scored. Oscar Sierra had the ball near the end line of the Par East goal. He then passes the ball to Cesar Galea and Cesar quickly hands it over to Joel Gomez. Joel takes a blast and the ball finds its way into the net. Tremendous joy was on the J.Villaplana bench but now they would have to hold on to the lead. Par East kept on attacking and about 13 minutes into the half, they scored the equalizer. This time Hermin Maran has the ball outside the J.Villaplana goalie box. He blasts a low ball directly into the J.Villaplana net but Alfredo the J.Villaplana goalie is not able to hold onto the shot. The ball falls to the ground and bounces around his legs and rolls out toward the field but Reynaldo is standing right there. Reynaldo pushes the ball to the side of Alfredo and scores from about 6 feet out. Then several minutes later, Par East scores the winning goal. This time Hermin dribbles into the J.Villaplana goalie box and quickly passes the ball to the open Reynaldo. Reynaldo takes a dribble and passes the ball to Luis Correa. Luis then hits the ball into the net from about 4 yards out. With this goal, J.Villaplana had to score since time was running out. The game became rough with the referee not calling several fouls. During this half, 3 players would receive yellow cards. J.Villaplana had a chance to score on a direct kick. The ball when kicked hit the cross bar of Par East. J.Villaplana produced several chances in front of the Par East goal. The ball was saved several times by the Par East defenders or Mario. In the end, Par East held on to win the game. The last time Donald's team won was during the spring and fall 1999 season. This is the second time that Donald has beaten Fabian in the finals. This was a great game.
